At the Multan Cricket Stadium, Pakistan defeated Nepal by a score of 238 runs in their opening game of the 2023 Asia Cup. In the first innings, Pakistan reached a total of 342 for 6 thanks to centuries from Babar and Iktikhar. Iftikhar finished unbeaten with 109 runs off 71 deliveries, while Babar scored 151 runs off 131 balls.

Iftikhar recorded his first century in the 50-over format, while Babar became just the second player in Asia Cup history, after India’s Virat Kohli, to reach 150 runs or more. In fact, the 214 run partnership between Iktikhar and Babar is the most for the fifth wicket in the Asia Cup.

In response, the hosts bowled Nepal out for just 104 runs in 23.4 overs, with Shadab taking four wickets and Rauf and Afridi each contributing a few more.

Pakistan will be aiming to secure their place in the Asia Cup knockout rounds when they play India in Kandy after defeating Nepal.
