Rinku Singh

In his rain-delayed debut for India, Rinku Singh was unable to bat, but on Sunday, after Ireland chose to field first, the 25-year-old had ample opportunity to demonstrate his abilities in the middle.

After Sanju Samson was out on the first ball of the 13th over, Rinku Singh came to bat. He struggled to get going, but eventually scored his first 15 runs off of 15 balls. But in the 19th over, he changed up his approach and smacked a four on Barry McCarthy’s second delivery before following it up with two back-to-back sixes.

The cricketer, who was born in Aligarh, blasted his third six on the fourth ball of the 20th over before being out trying to once more clear the boundary ropes. In keeping with his reputation as a “finisher,” Rinku Singh hit 38 off 21 and helped India go from 143/4 in 18 overs to 185/5 in 20 overs. After the Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star’s knock, the crowd erupted in hysterics. Here is how they responded.
